GIS Data of Street Center Lines
What I need is GIS data of street center lines where each street is represented as a line or polygon, with the GPS coordinates of the end points of each line, or node of the polygons included in the data.
I have downloaded street file samples, and looked at the .dbf tables using MapInfo. I see such fields as:
- Leftadd1
- Leftadd2
- Rightadd1
- Rightadd2
- StreetNames
but cannot find GPS coordinates. Mind you, there are other files with extensions: .sbn, .shp, .shx, .sbx which I know nothing about.
Is there a companion file I should be looking at?
TIA.

Re: GIS Data of Street Center Lines
Klaus,
Not sure what GIS you are using (but assume it is ArcInfo - seeing you list esri files in your post)
Check out the following URL - it is for MapInfo users, but I assume you could do something similar with ArcInfo - if that is what you use.
The posts in the link detail a number of methods of getting the beginning and end co-ords of your line segments.

Hope it helps.
Cheers,
Brian
